Vicky (Fuller) Rodgers' Mother died Aug. 3
Dear Rodgers family members:
I thought I would let you all know that Aunt Vickie's mother died this morning.
As you may already know, her mother has been very ill with cancer of the intestines for over a year now.  I talked with David Ray just a while ago and he said that as far as he knows they are going to have grave side services only.  It will probably be in Ogden as that is where she lived.  We all know how it hurts to loose a mother or a grandmother and I know that Vickie is going to miss her mom.
I'll let you know when the Funeral/grave side services are going to be.
Love,
Aunt Sylvia

His passing was from the ravages of a damaged Liver and Ascites
He was valiant and true to the end and never cursed his suffering but only yearned to go be with his eternal mate, Irene.

His funeral & viewing will be on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004.
The viewing will begin at 11:30 AM.
The funeral will begin at 1:00 PM in the Bountiful 37th Ward Chapel on 1550 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah.

There will not be any other viewing on any other day except the one prior to the funeral.  He will then be buried in the Bountiful City Cemetery along side  his wife Irene -- or as he lovingly called out to her one day in pain.."Oh, Lena," (I have never heard my dad call mom by her first name until this)  "Please come get me. I want to go home."

I miss him terribly already but am so glad to see him out of the terrible pain and suffering.  Mama finally got her "for time and all eternity, right now!" wish.
        Love to all of you.

On Saturday, December 27, 2003,
Kenneth Woodbury Rodgers, a brave and valiant defender of the Restored Gospel of Peace and our Lord and Savior, Jesus The Christ, having expressed his love for all his children, squeezing and holding the hands of his oldest child, representing all his children, and that of Monica, one of his kind attendants at South Davis Community Care Center, at 12:35 pm, peacefully and willingly breathed his last breath in this mortal state and passed with comfortable joy on into eternity.  At the age of 86, after long suffering and patience, he died from the final failure of an environmental and accident damaged liver and Acites.  He was valiant and true to the end. He never cursed his suffering but only yearned to join his eternal mate, Irene. Finally confident his work was done, called and reaching through the veil, He accepted the hand of his sweet bride and he left this Earth knowing that he was loved on both sides of that thinnest of Eternity's divides in that most precious of moments.
Ken was born at his family's "old firehouse" main street home in Bountiful, Utah on March 7, 1917 to Loretta Lambert Woodbury & Eli Brumm Rodgers Sr.  He went to Stoker Elementary and graduated from Davis High School.  He loved to perform and act, participating in numerous plays and road shows.  He could remember the best jokes and tell them like a pro.
In the early spring of 1940, at the "Coconut Grove" he met and fell in love with Lena Irene DeWaal.  On September 4, 1940 they were married for "Time and All Eternity" in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.   From this union came 9 children, 38 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren which they loved with all their hearts.
Ken held various jobs through out his life: plumber, milkman, small farmer, church poultry ranch operator, church technical maintenance and custodian, barber, and all around fix it genius, but the one labor he enjoyed the most was working for the Brethren as facility high tech maintenance specialist at the LDS Church's Deseret Gym.
In 1983, Ken & Irene were called to fill an LDS Mission among the wonderful Native American, Zuni Nation, in the Holbrook, Arizona Mission.  Irene died Aug. 02, 2000.  Ken was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and lived in the Bountiful 37th Ward. He held and performed in the priesthood office as High Priest.  His testimony never wavered in the face of adversity and he loved bearing it, and did it faithfully every where he could, especially in his own wards Fast and Testimony meetings.
Ken is survived by three sons, Thomas (Betty) Rodgers, Chester (LouJane) Rodgers, David Ray (Vickie) Rodgers, five daughters, Sylvia (Lars) Andersson, Loretta (Stephen) Larsen, Venice (Robert) Garner, Geraldine (Larry) Newhall, Cindy (David) Reinhold. one brother, Eli Brumm (Lucille) Rodgers Jr., and one brother-in-law Carroll (Helen) Roberts.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a baby son Kenneth, one brother, Melvin, two sisters, Catherine Roberts and Mary Alice Eakle.
The family would like to thank a very special friend and neighbor Charles Miller, who has helped Dad many years as a care taker and landscaper, and best of friends.  When Ken's children could not be there, Charley was. Also special thanks to Rob Nelsen, Steven Thaxton and Richard Howe some of Dad's most loving and always caring neighbors. And also our family's grateful appreciation goes to those kind care givers at Lake View Hospital and those wonderful staff attending Ken with dedication and tenderest love in Dad's last few months and final moments at South Davis Community Care Center.
A Special limited Family Viewing will be held Friday, Jan 2, 2004, 3:30 pm at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah.

Anything that you would like our whole family or close friends to see or know, please let me know and I will try to get it in place here.  Send me text, computer data files or photos (preferably in a transportable format, on a disk or in email, and, if possible, html ready - to save me time) and I can upload it for all to enjoy.   Love,Tom  9/1/02
